A Potpourri of Gardening Stories…

Love the picture…and a shameless plug for a great program!!!

On hot summer day, it’s good to stay in the AC and read about gardening. Today I’m sharing three different pieces I found or had sent to me from on-line. The first is about a student farm at KU. “Just two years ago, the student farm, located in north Lawrence near the municipal airport, was a mere five people working on one small plot of land. Since then, the student farm has expanded into 50 plots, and it is continuing to flourish.” Here’s the link;

The second link takes you to a page about straw bale gardening. “Straw Bale Gardening is simply a different type of container gardening.  The main difference is that the container is the straw bale itself and is held together with two or three strings”. This last article will make you think…and maybe scratch your head!!! The title “What a Plant Knows” should pique your interest. Here’s the link; http://www.brainpickings.org/index.php/2012/06/06/what-a-plant-knows/

Enjoy, and stay cool!!!1
