And then, on Saturday, you can enjoy learning with Dr. Jack Landgrebe, when he presents Gardening Among the Trees – A Shady Story
Many home gardeners eventually face the challenge of what to do as their sunny garden transforms into a woodland setting. What are the characteristics of such a garden, and how do you strike a balance between natural and man-made garden design elements? How do you quantify shade and relate it to what appears on plant labels? What are microclimates? How do you use texture, foliage color, leaf shapes and ground covers effectively? What are some design considerations involving annuals and perennials, shrubs and undercover trees, native plants and cultivars? What are some useful plant possibilities for shade gardens in northeast Kansas? These are many questions that will be answered during the talk. Here’s the details:
Saturday, September 17, 2016. Presentation 10-11:00am. Open to the Public
Meetings are held in the Dreher Building at the K-State Research and Extension Douglas County Office located at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper, Lawrence, KS.
